Material Choices – What We Do and Why

At ReCollector, we aim to use resources as wisely as possible – both now and in the long term. That means choosing materials and solutions that are made to last and, whenever possible, can be part of a circular system rather than ending up as waste.

From the very beginning, we’ve focused on long-term thinking: when developing products, selecting suppliers, or entering into partnerships, we strive to make decisions that make sense – also in a bigger-picture perspective.

We’re inspired by the principles of circular economy and try to apply them wherever possible – in the materials we choose, in our production processes, and in how our products are designed to be used and reused. Not every product can be 100% circular, but we want to be transparent about our choices and give you insight into what we do – and why.

Our Recycling Box and MiniReCollector are made from recycled plastic. That means that every time you hang one on your wall, you're helping reduce plastic waste. Recycling plastic is complex – many types can’t be reused because they’re mixed with other materials. Our boxes are made from a single, clean plastic type, which makes them recyclable again after use. Again and again.

We also use FSC-certified wood, which ensures the wood comes from responsibly managed forests – with respect for nature, biodiversity, and the people who work in the forests. Wood is one of the most environmentally friendly materials available. While growing, it absorbs CO₂ from the atmosphere and stores it throughout its life.

We use GOTS-certified (Global Organic Textile Standard) textiles – the leading international certification for organic textiles. It sets high standards for both environmental and social responsibility throughout the supply chain. That includes organic farming without harmful chemicals, strict requirements for water use, dyeing, and waste management, and ensuring fair working conditions and wages. By choosing GOTS-certified textiles, you support a more responsible textile industry – with respect for both people and planet.

We also work with metal in our products because it’s durable and endlessly recyclable. It’s a strong, long-lasting material – and even when recycled repeatedly, it retains its quality. This makes metal one of the most circular materials we have. By using metal, we reduce the need to extract new raw materials and help cut down on waste.

"ReCollector has an important mission to take better care of our environment.

With products from ReCollector, it becomes easier for my family to sort our waste in a busy everyday life."
