Waste sorting of cardboard

Your old cardboard waste must be sorted in the container for cardboard and paper. If you have a large amount of cardboard inside, you can hand it in at the recycling station in the cardboard container. However, if the cardboard is wet or dirty, you must not put it in the cardboard container - neither at home nor at the recycling station. Instead, you must sort wet or dirty cardboard as residual waste.
You can advantageously stamp, fold or tear the cardboard into smaller pieces so that it does not take up much space in the container at home.

Examples of cardboard:

  • Kitchen and toilet rolls
  • Cardboard boxes and corrugated cardboard
  • Carton from packaging
  • Egg trays
  • Shoe boxes

That is why cardboard waste sorting is important

The consumption of cardboard is increasing, and it is especially internet shopping and food packaging that is behind it. Clean cardboard can be reused several times, which is why it is important that it does not contain unwanted substances or is wet. As much as 98% of the collected cardboard waste is recycled into new fiber products, which must be considered a good indicator for sorting waste correctly at home.
